“Get a blog, Google likes blogs.” – Jeff Newman, Newman Mentalism

So here I am. It’s Monday morning, I am just about to leave Calgary for Lethbridge and I am about to post my first blog entry. As I sit here and eat my breakfast, I am contemplating all the reasons I should not be blogging. And for your reading pleasure, here they are!
Reason number one: I am absolutely dreadful at commitment. I have a dreadful feeling in the pit of my stomach that this will be the last post you ever read and this whole ‘blog’ thing will be a resounding failure. Really though, what is there to be afraid of? If this is the last post, this is my site, I can always delete it and pretend like none of this ever happened. OR, I can leave it up, in hopes of being pulled back to the lone blog to revive a once thriving blog about my life and the things I find interesting…Only time will tell.
Reason number two: Do I have anything interesting to say? No… Well, let’s talk this one out. (Which is a funny thing to type. You’re reading it, but in your head you can hear yourself, or maybe even what you might imagine ‘I’ sound like. Also, this is neat, TRY READING THIS!, you yelled that didn’t you? But not out loud! Only in your head. Humans are cool!) I have a lot of personal interests, stories, and a plethora of topics that I find interesting. That doesn’t mean everyone wants to hear them, right? I guess if they don’t want to read this blog than they won’t… I suppose if you’re searching it out than you have a little interest at least. Thanks for your interest.
Another fascinating thing the human mind can do!
Reason number three: Are blogs still a thing? The last thing I remember hearing about a blog was…well it was Jeff telling me to get a blog. Prior to that, it was probably in the early 2000s that I remember blogs being very popular. If you’re at all interested in learning more about blogs, check out this website…. I literally Google searched when were blogs popular and this is what came up. So... yeah, I have learned blogs are still popular. Shoot. That means I should probably do this and stick to it.
Reason number four: I have to come up with content all the time! That sounds like an extremely daunting and tedious task. Some people are really good at it. I applaud them. They have trained their entire career to learn to do it and do it well. Who am I and try and do that? I talk a lot and I have a lot to say but…is that content? Maybe. I guess I have a few topics. Obviously I put a bit of thought into it. There are category headings at the top of the page. It’s still a scary thought!
Reason number five: It’s just another thing I have to remember. Along with having a terrible commitment problem, I have an even worse memory! Any of my close friends would attest to that! I’m bad at dates, faces, lines, I’m sure there are other things but I can’t remember. On the other hand, show me a pattern and I will soak it up like a sponge. Or a sequence of numbers, I’ll eat that up like a sailor on leave.
So those are all the reasons not to do this…That being said, I am going to do this. I hope you come along for a ride. It might be an extremely short ride but I am going to do everything I can to keep this going!
If there is a story that you have heard me tell, and you want me to write it down, let me know at firstname.lastname@example.org or www.benpricemagic.com on the contact page! And if you have a topic that you think might interest me let me know as well! I’m always eager to learn something new!
